Heath Rominger is a dedicated public servant and community leader running for the position of Okaloosa County Commissioner in District 3. With a background rooted in service and a vision for the future of Okaloosa County, Heath brings a blend of experience, passion, and commitment to his candidacy. Heath currently owns his own business and operates as a State Certified General Contractor.
Early Life and Education
Heath Rominger was born in San Bernardino, Ca while his Father was stationed at Camp Pendleton during the Vietnam War and his family returned to Okaloosa County when just 6 weeks old and raised in Okaloosa County. Growing up in a community known for its rich history and close-knit atmosphere, Heath developed a deep appreciation for the values of hard work, integrity, and community service. He attended local schools and was actively involved in various extracurricular activities, which helped shape his leadership skills from an early age. One unique fact about Heath is that he was a key player on the Niceville High School 88’ State Championship Team.
Heath was raised by Okaloosa County and to wants to serve Okaloosa County.
Heath’s professional career is marked by a diverse range of experiences that have equipped him with a unique perspective on the needs and challenges of Okaloosa County. He served two terms as a Councilman for the City of Niceville overseeing over 50 Million dollar in advalorem, grant and enterprise funds. He served as the elected official overseeing the Niceville/Valparaiso/Okaloosa County Regional sewer plant operations and expansion. He has worked in various sectors, including business, education, and public administration. This varied background has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the county's economic landscape and the complexities of local governance. He is currently a local State Certified General Contractor who thoroughly enjoys “revitalizing” dated homes, thus providing an affordable means of enhancing local homes.
Throughout his life, Heath has been deeply involved in community service. He has volunteered with numerous local organizations and initiatives, demonstrating his commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents of Okaloosa County. His efforts have focused on areas such as youth development, economic growth, and environmental conservation.
As a candidate for Okaloosa County Commissioner, District 3, Rominger is driven by a vision of sustainable growth, fiscal responsibility, and enhanced public services. His campaign is built on the principles of transparency, accountability, and community engagement. Rominger aims to:
1. Promote Economic Development: Foster a business-friendly environment that encourages job creation and attracts new industries to the region.
2. Enhance Infrastructure: Invest in critical infrastructure projects to support the county's growth and improve the quality of life for residents.
3. Ensure Fiscal Responsibility: Implement prudent budgeting practices to ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and effectively.
4. Protect Natural Resources: Advocate for policies that preserve and protect the county's natural beauty and resources for future generations.
5. Improve Public Services: Strengthen public safety, education, and mental health services to meet the evolving needs of the community.
Heath is a family man who values the importance of strong community ties. He and his family reside in Okaloosa County, where they actively participate in local events and support various community initiatives. Rominger's personal and professional life is a testament to his dedication to the betterment of his community. Both he and his wife Caryn are 4th generation Okaloosa'ns with roots tied to Blackwater, Heath (Kennedy family and North Laural Hill, Caryn, (Fleming/Riley families).
